Klaudyna + Maciek — destination wedding, Tarnow, Poland
Do you remember the part in J. R. R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” when Bilbo sets off on his adventure? If you do, you’ll have a pretty good insight into what’s going on in my mind when I set off on a destination wedding. New places, new sights and sounds, new people, new food – all waiting to be discovered.
Now, what if the actual destination – roughly two thousand miles away from where you live – happens to be the very place of your childhood?
This was exactly where Klaudyna and Maciek’s destination wedding was to take place: Tarnów – a lovely town in Poland where I grew up in, watching Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles before school and re-enacting my favourite parts from last night’s Miami Vice episode after; the place where my old home used to be and where some of my old friends still were.
So, I set off – this time feeling more like the older Bilbo Baggins from “Lord of the Rings” rather than the young one from “The Hobbit” – on a week-long adventure to retrace the somewhat dusty trails of my memory. It was a strange feeling – a mixture of the new blended with nostalgia into an exhilarating concoction of something I cannot accurately describe.
The wedding itself was a two-day love-and-dance-spree of absolutely epic magnitude. Yes, two days of non-stop celebration and festivities; two full days and most part of the nights. The young couple were the most amiable people you can imagine, and so were the guests. The wedding venue – a balanced combination of rustic style with a modern twist, was simply stunning. Everything, starting with food and finishing with the wedding band, was just plainly amazing.
Klaudyna and Maciek’s destination wedding was an experience and a half for me, on more than one level. I truly hope you enjoy exploring this small photo chronicle as much as I did creating it!
